Technical Services


Trust Media Distribution offers you as a retailer a number of ways in which you can get your own IT systems to interface to our systems to receive product data and to submit orders electronically, helping you to provide the best possible service to your customers.

Irrespective of your level of technical expertise you can get on-line stock availability and place orders electronically with us by accessing the Trust Media Distribution website or by installing our SyneRgi software on your store PC.

If you have or are considering setting up your own website, we can provide the data you need to make your website work for you. Using web service technology you can request, electronically, up-to-the-minute stock availability data across the entire Trust Media product range, as well as rich text and images, and use this data to populate your website.

If your website has the facility for customers to place orders, you can get it to interface directly with Trust Media so that the goods are shipped straight to the consumer, saving you time and trouble, cutting out extra shipping costs and time delays for the products to reach their final destinations.

If you are considering this route please be assured Trust Media Distribution does not retain any consumer information - these are your customers!

STOCK AVAILABILITY


  • Our Price and Availability Web Service allows requests to be made for real-time stock availability at Trust Media Distribution either for a single product or a list of products. Price, VAT rate and stock availability are returned. Currently updated at five-minute intervals.
  • Alternatively (or in addition) you can be set up to receive our Daily Availability Feed. This is a csv format file placed on our FTP server overnight which you can collect first thing each morning. It contains ISBN, stock availability, RRP, VAT rate, product status, availability date, and your own applicable trade discount rate for all Trust Media Distribution products. Both a full file and a changes file are produced daily.
  • There is no charge for either of these services.

BIBLIOGRAPHIC AND RICH PRODUCT DATA


  • Our Product Data Web Service allows requests to be made for rich bibliographic data including images for the Trust Media Distribution product range (provision of images cannot be guaranteed). Data returned includes detailed information about the requested product including dimensions, image, track listing etc. As the bibliographic data is less volatile than availability data, this service should be used in conjunction with our Product Listing Web Service which provides a listing of products which are either new or whose bibliographic data has changes since a specified date. There is a small rental charge for this service.
  • We can also make available a Weekly Bibliographic Data Feed (via FTP). This is a flat file containing ISBN and basic bibliographic data such as title, author, publisher, product status as well as price and VAT rate, for all Trust Media products. Other lookup tables are also included for barcode conversion, subject descriptions etc. The file is produced every Friday.

ORDER PROCESSING INTERFACES


  • Our Trade Order Interface (B2B - Business to Business) allows you to place orders electronically with us on your account and have the goods shipped to your store; you benefit from an extended order deadline compared with orders placed by phone or fax. You place an Order Message file on FTP and receive a response indicating the status of each item requested in the order. Items may be marked as supplied, back-ordered or cancelled. You can use this information to feed back straight away to your customers the likely outcome of their order. When the goods are despatched we place an Invoice Message on FTP identifying details of goods despatched.
  • Our Consumer Direct Fulfilment Interface (B2C - Business to Consumer) allows you to place orders electronically with us and have the goods shipped direct to the consumer on your behalf. As above, you place an Order Message file on FTP and receive a response indicating the status of each item requested in the order. Items may be marked as supplied, back-ordered or cancelled. We charge your trade account but send the goods out to the consumer with a delivery note branded according to your specification - this can either just itemise goods despatched or show prices, VAT and shipping costs as paid by the consumer. When the goods are despatched we place a Despatch Message on FTP identifying details of goods despatched so that you can inform your customer (and claim payment).
